Hi , iv'e got a vaillant turbomax vuw 242/1e combi and the hot water presure has always been a little on the low side can this be increased and will it be ok to change from my electric shower to a thermostatic type and what type would work best

What is your hot flow rate from your boiler measure with a 1 litre container over I minute.
9 litres per min should give you a decent shower.

cheers for your reply i've measured it at about 7.5 ltrs per min can that be increased

Ensure your mains stop tap is fully open.
Use full bore service valves or gate valves.
Replace lead with mdpe (blue plastic) pipe with a larger bore.

Or even look under the boiler on the cold supply pipe to it there should be a little grey/white knob just as it goes into boiler make sure this is open fully
