Hi folks,

I want to install a fingerprint lock (Samsung SHS-5230 or Gateman F100) on my front door, but I'm not sure what it is for insurance purposes.
My insurance company (L&G) say the locks must be BS3621 certified OR a multi-point locking system with a minimum of three locking points OR any lock plus two internal key operated patio door locks or key locking bolts at the top and bottom.
Clearly only the multi-point lock might apply, but is this a 3-point locking system?? Seems like these are typical on UPVC doors...

Gateman - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Gateman-keyless-entry-fingerprint-door-lock-F100-H/591700243.html

Any advice very gratefully received!

Fergus.

Thanks for the reply orchard, but it's not really what I'm looking for.
The locks I am looking at are the ones I mentioned, and they are to go in a front door rather than a uPVC door.

My question is whether these locks are considered "multi point locking system with 3 locking points" or not, as they don't seem to conform to any British standard.

The multi point locking or 3 point locking refers to the actual mechanism in the door not the handle, the handle just operates the mechanism, a wooden door would require a '5 lever' mortice lock to BS standard for insurance purposes, the handle has nothing to do with it.

Do not confuse 5 lever with five point locking, the former is a wooden door lock and the latter is a multi point lock for a PVC or composite door

Thanks for your answer.

From what I understand some locks like the Samsung one comes with their own mortice which I guess means they won't work multi point door lock mechanism like the one one this type of doors:

It looks like the only one that works with multi point lock system is the era ilock or the yale keyless (no fingerprint) but I would be happy for someone to correct me if I am wrong.
