Hi, I want to deck 2 areas of my garden with composite decking, just looking for advice please. Area one is 2.5m x 2.5m and area 2 is 2.9m x 2.7m, area one leads to area 2 which is higher. Area 1 is already decked but with wooden deck boards so I am hoping my original frame is still sound I will be building a new wooden frame for area 2. In the past I have dug holes and fixed tantalised wood into the soil with post mix, area 2 has big solid railway sleepers as a raised bed that I can also fix to for added structure along with posts dug into the soil (more like clay)

I don’t want joints so 3m boards would work best with the least wastage.

My questions

Is my plan solid please?
Any recommendations on good quality board suppliers (3m boards)
Any tips on fitting?
Should I opt for those deck feet type things that sit on a flag on the soil or go for the wood in the soil approach?

I am 50 next month so want a maintainence free life after fitting lol

Thanks for reading.

Wood in the soil or anywhere else won't be maintenance free. Can you use concrete posts or can you get composite ones.

Hi, thanks for the replies so far. I looked into composite frames but they are no good for raised decking so I am staying with the wood option. Pulled the old deck up today and the frame had rotted (for the last 3 or 4 years I covered the deck with fake grass so it never really dried out).

As I can’t use composite frame and aluminium is way out of my budget I will use wood for the frames, also been looking at the deck tape that seems to do a good job of protecting the frame.

As mentioned above about wood in soil rotting I have been looking digging holes and filling them with post mix but then putting those plastic deck feet in that you can adjust, are these any good? My area one is only 2.5 x 2.5 metres and the frame will fix to the house on one side (with spacers off the brick) and big heavy wooden sleepers down one side, how many concrete square footings will I need in this area please? My area 2 is 2.7 x 2.9 meters again with sleepers down 2 of the 4 sides, how many concrete square footings for this area please? Is there a formula?

Thanks again for reading and for the answers so far.
