I'm about to have a smallish tree and its huge root ball removed from a six-foot square brick planter in my garden.

It's going to leave a big hole and I want to know what sort of soil I should buy, with an eye on the budget, to fill the hole.

I plan to plant in there some shrubs that I already have in large plastic planters.

I saw 100l of Irish peat on amazon for £16 - is this the right stuff?

Cheers

You won't really know how much you need until the tree is out.
A couple bags of cheap compost from a garden centre (or supermarket) might be all you need, if the shrubs are already in big pots
