concealed mixer, solid internal wall

Morning chaps, I thought this would be obvious but can't find it so here goes...

I want to fit a concealed mixer to an internal block wall (4" thick). I can't chase it in because there isn't enough wall, but there is an airing cupboard the other side, so are there any deep fitting kits to allow me to plumb behind the solid wall? What I want is for the wall to only contain the outlet and the shafts of the controls, and for all of the plumbing and the mixer valve to be behind the wall.

I would think about cutting a hole straight through the wall big enough to accept the complete mixer valve, screwing a piece of plywood over the hole inside the airing cupboard, and mounting the mixer on that.

You could lead the supply pipes through holes in the ply, and clip the pipes to the wall inside the airing cupboard. Put a couple of iso. valves in the pipes just clear of the edge of the board.

If (when) you need access for maintenance, unhook the pipes from the iso. valves, unscrew the board, and lift it out with the mixer valve still attached.

right, yes, that's my plan, but it seems to me that most mixers cannot be mounted that deeply - or can they? Can a mixer be mounted 100mm below the surface?

I was thinking of mounting the mixer on the bathroom side of the ply, so it sits within the hole in the wall, in the usual position for concealed valves .

You can then pack out the valve mounting as far as you like to bring the controls clear of the finished bathroom wall, or pack the ply away from the airing cupboard wall to recess the valve deeper as necessary.
