Concealed shower valve in narrow wall

I need to fit a concealed shower valve/diverter in the shower cubicle are im working on.

The problem im facing is the internal depth of the wall is only about 55mm. The shower side of the wall has a couple of sheets of 12.5mm plasterboard which increases the wall depth a bit more.

The rear side of the partition wall is inside the hot water cylinder cupboard.

Was wondering if it might be feasible to cut out a section of the wall out from inside the cupboard, then build out the necessary framing/bracketry to mount the valve from that side.
Basically part of the valve and pipe work would be protruding into the cupboard instead of being hidden in the wall. (i could box the rear of the valve in with ply or something at the end

Has anyone done anything similar to this where the rear of the valve would exposed but hidden in a cupboard or similar

Short answer, yes

You can cut a hole in the partition, fit supports as needed? and when the installation is complete, fit a timber / ply [or similar] "protection" for the valve inside the cupboard.
