Hi, we have an established pine tree on the border of our driveway, which is in the process of being re-done. The roots were lifting the old driveway in places and I was assured cutting a few roots would not do any harm. Please see pics below, there are more roots that have already been scooped away. I think the tree won't last, so many roots have been dug up, even deep ones. We had it thinned out in November in preperation. Any opinions appreciated, thanks.

I wonder whether that will have any support to stop it falling towards the road? I'd consider taking it out and planting a new one.

I would be taking advice from a tree specialist.

Whats the worst thing that could happen? The tree would fall down!

Judging by your other thread, the 'company' doing the work cannot be relied upon for any professional opinion on anything. If they have cut that amount of roots away, then that tree is at extreme risk of collapsing the other way - which I assume is the public road, the first time the wind blows. They will not care, they will not be around - bodgit and run with the money.

The firm doing the job, perfect reviews across the internet, I can't find any negative comments about them, established for 35 years, family run, Brett approved contractors and authorised by the Met Police Trading Service as an approved supplier. Who can you trust these days? I have a host of other issues as well, damage to shrubs, door step, underground electrics, water meter, rubble getting into soakaways and the septic tank, grass is taking an unecessary battering. They say they will repair any damage but with different guys coming and going there is no one here to project manage the job and I keep having to point out things they should already know to prevent further issues.

Forgive my ignorance, can't seem to find out how to pm you.

Did that, but no obvious link to pm, or is it profile posts?
