What are peoples opinions on Medium Density versus Aerated concrete blocks when building an outbuilding/shed. The building will hopefully be used frequently as almost another room of the house.

I know aerated are marginally more expensive and lighter, but medium density seem to be more substantial. Another advantage of aerated is that you can saw them by hand, which is obviously useful.

What it be ridiculous to use medium density for the bulk of the building and use aerated where blocks need to be cut?

The choice is yours, the most popular are Aerated which is a lot warmer which in my opinion would be ideal for you if you're going to use it in the winter. The Medium Density type are good for underground, therefore have to be substantial and more common in commercial building for strength and doesn't have to be rendered, that okay if you want it to look like lego building! Do not use Aerated below dpc level,it will soak in the damp.

See this for some idea.
