Hi all

Looking for advice on using recessed concrete fence posts which are 100mm x 100mm.

I need to dig 5 holes, I have dug down to about 8 inches and being London, have hit the dreaded clay.

Thinking of hiring a petrol auger for the day at around £60, I know this is a lot for a small job but not sure if the manual augers you can buy are up to the job.

Can anyone please advise, the posts are 8ft high, is 2ft depth ok as the fence height will be 6ft, how wide should the hole be?

Any advice will be truly appreciated

Thank you

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for the slow response.

Took the advice on not hiring a petrol auger, I bought some post hole diggers and a digging bar which was well worth the money, job done in no time at all.

Thanks all

Regards
