Hi,

Our bathroom was converted from its previous use as a bedroom (before we bought the house) The house is approx 100 years old and has wooden floorboards on the first floor.

The bathroom floor is currently vinyl but we are planning to lay ceramic tiles over cement backing board. The problem is that there was a fireplace in the room and where the hearth was is concrete but it is not level with the rest of the floor.

This was not really a problem before as it the slope was masked by the vinyl but how can I bring the floor over the concrete area up to the level of the floor boards? I was thinking of some sort of self levelling compound - would that be an option?

All advice appreciated - thanks
