No. There is an immediate point load directly at the bearing which needs to be dealt with, before the load can even begin to spread
Precisely, and the load has to be dealt with within the depth of the padstone under the 45 degree spread assumption.
My concern was that if you have 2 shallow (65mm) beams joined with mortar, the load will not have been adequately spread when it reaches the level of the mortar and so could overload it.
Even 1:3 mortar hand mixed and applied is not as strong as a manufactured padstone.
