I'm planning on adding more concrete on to an existing slab, it's currently 75mm I will be bring it up to about 125mm. Do I need to do anything to the existing slab before the pour, I thinking would a PVA solution be neccessary.

50mm is a bit risky to do a debonded finish. What is this slab for? Could you use screed instead?

Thanks Woody and Tomfe,

Screed is not an option for me, I'll take a punt with the extra load.

If the existing slab is internal like a garage etc then wet it thoroughly and many times in the day before your pour, the suction is enormous and will dry your new concrete so fast it will be very hard to float/ finish properly.
