I am having some new windows. The lintels on the old ones are sagging quite badly and need to be fixed. They are quite large windows, about 2.3m wide.

I have two similar quotes, one suggesting steel lintels and the other concrete.

Reading up it sounds like concrete isn't ideal for such wide windows. Any comments on which is better?

Better or more suitable?
No doubt you could get a 140mm deep concrete beast to work, but no one will be able to lift it.
Is it a cavity wall?

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned, it is cavity wall.

I'll query it, because as you say it does sound like a very large bit of concrete.

Edit: I should add that the builder said something about casting them on site.
