condensate

correct answer is go by MI`s as it is possible on some boilers there is no internal trap and you are right products can exit through the condensate. Cant be arsed searching for which manufacturers stipulate it

Recently came across a boiler which had an internal trap , but product;s of combustion every so often at certain time's were leaking into the room , via a belfast sink waste out let ! some boiler's biasi have a internal seal (ball) that seal's off the trap in the event of the trap being empty ??

And the sometimes sealed off the trap when they got stuck!

They possible stopped fitting them but the latest model does have one though.
