Condenser Boiler and Outside Drainage

Hi,

Just a query. My wifes mum stays in a 4 in a block on the bottom. Her neighbour, who lives above her, is getting a condenser boiler fitted and the drain pipe (soakaway) is being fitted. She was led to beleive the pipe was to be run down the outside wall of the house into her back garden then out about a metre from the house, underground into a bed of limestone. After querying with the plumbers, they said they were going to run the drain pipe directly down the outside wall straight into the ground about 3ft down into a bed of limestone and not coming out from the house at all. Is this normal?

Don't know much about the plumbing thing but assumed the drain pipe would get led away from the house maybe to stop dampness or something but instead it's running adjacent to the house/wall and going straight into the ground. They've only fitted the downpipe so far and still to complete the rest of the plumbing. What are the dangers if they don't lead the drain pipe away from the house?

The condense drain must be installed to the manufacturers instructions.

Apparently the regs have now been updated to state that the condensate soakaway must now be a minimum of 1M from the property and no limestone chippings are needed.
