Whats the rgi`s on this site`s opinion on the reliability of HE boilers.I have seen a number of boilers fitted roughly 6 years ago needing replaced due to corrosion.Mainly Worcster Greenstars.I know there used to be problems with the metal flue inner (now plastic) but i have seen a number of boilers eating theselves with corrosion.I believe the water differences Scotland/England may have something to do with it,but i had a meeting with a rep the other day and he replied with "im not allowed to talk about it"and a smile

greenstars are only 3/4 years old and never heard anything of them 'eating' themselves??

Metal flues are ok as they are SS.

Most HE boilers are fine if installed correctly.

Sorry rob but have to strongly disagree with you there.

Had a look at Greenstars baffles from the WB3 heat exchangers?

This one and all the others I've seen are nicely corroding after only a year in service - check the lower baffle lower edges. Debris is trapped between the lower baffle and the heat exchanger allowing condensate to collect. The corrosion makes it a struggle to remove the baffle - after a few years they will be siezed solid - get your hydraulic pullers and slide hammer ready. :)

and a cut away of the heat exchanger
