If complying with part L 2002 means boiler replacements have to be fully pumped, why does Ideal make the Mexico HE range which is a Sedbuk A rated boiler suitable to be fitted to gravity systems ????, is this to corner the cowboy end of the market ???, bearing in mind it's now past April 2005 I cant see anyone being able to say (oh I had my quote and work booked in before 2002), this boiler hasn't been around long enough to for it to be on a 2002 quote ?????

The Mexico is HE is a floor standing Icos. It is definetly not compatible with gravity systems.

page 14 plumb center trade price guide, Mexico HE suitable for fully pumped and gravity systems etc

Plumb Center wrong. Did training on Classic HE and Mexico HE last week. Def. not for gravity.

Will post some info in a while.

I think boiler swaps on existing gravity systems is o.k. as long as u put 2 port valve on circs with cyl stat.

Mexico HE is not to be used on gravity circuits.

Sealed or open vented is ok but must be fully pumped

Taught at college that any heating work carried out on gravity systems must involve converting to fully pumped. I think it comes under Part L (not sure  ) but definitely comes under building regs. :D

not if you read it carefully, you have to offer the client the option of upgrading the system, bit like taking the horse to the water

Still confused, I thought part L was mandatory, not if installer feels like it or customer wants it, if you can lead the horse to water but cant make it drink why the fuucckk was I "forced " to do the DHE course with the threat of not being able to carry out boiler installations after April ,2005, this load of crap is why I am not wasteing my time with part p crap, I am carrying on wiring heating systems just like I have for the last 30 years, cant see anyone policing part L so no reason to think they will police part p.

basic requirements for a combi boiler
trv's on all rads except ones with a room stat in,boiler interlock, auto by-pass if not fitted to the boiler & a time switch
best practice
as above but with programmable room stat
