The lock on our UPVC front door was fine until today.

Now when unlocking, turning the key unlocks at 4 o'clock position, then you could normally keep turning until the 12 o'clock position and remove the key, but the key seems to stop at about 10 o'clock and you can't get it out.

It means you have to unlock the door, open it, lock it again while open, then remove the key, before going into the house. Annoying!

Is the lock on it's way out?

Sounds like the cam has slipped - usual when someone has tried to open the door from outside, when there's a key on the inside.

Take the euro cylinder out, and with the key taken out of the cylinder, the cam (the rotating bit in the middle) should be at 5 or 7 o'clock. If its not, then it's slipped.

Replace the Euro cylinder and all should be ok.

Thanks HandyHands, I've just looked up how to remove a euro cylinder, looks really simple.
