I would like to join a 32mm pipe to another which is enclosed within a straight connector which has itself has been cut off flush to a stone wall. I have absolutely no access beyond the pipe enclosed within the cut connector. Is there any way that I could connect another 32mm pipe to this internally for example with any sort of pipe the diameter of which closely resembles the inside measurement of a 32mm waste pipe?

I would doubt it, I dont know of anything that would make a successful internal seal. Only way to make a proper joint would be to connect onto a good stub of the existing pipe, or if enough of the connector was available, you might get away with using a flexi waste connection on the coupling. https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-wf07-flexi-waste-straight-coupling-grey-30-38mm-x/29220

No way you could chisel out enough of the wall to get to any more of the pipe?

Thanks for the quick reply. To be honest, I had already put the question to Floplast via email but they couldn’t help. Just thought that somewhere along the line one of the members here might have encountered a similar problem and found a solution.

The only way really is what Hugh is suggesting: chop out the wall.

Chop out a groove in the wall to get at the screw on the jubilee clip - maybe get a larger connector to go over the cut off socket.

What's the pipe material? If it's uPVC or ABS you might be able to solvent weld an insert, if the reduced bore is acceptable. Depending on pipe pressure rating, the 32mm will have bore around 25mm, which is next smaller metric OD. Or a 3/4" NB inch pipe. If the insert is a bit too big you could get it turned down. If it's PE or PP you can't solvent weld, but what pressure does it have to stand, and how leak-tight? You might get away with a gap-filling adhesive e.g. silicone.

Nigel, the pipe is behind a built in unit and I have very limited access at the moment and can’t take a photo. From what I can see, it would appear that the outer ring seems to be the remains of a solvent weld coupler and the inner the 32mm pipe.

Sorry but I drafted the reply after yours earlier but forgot to post it. I suspect that there had been a sink there at one time and if I can use this waste, I’ll be removing the unit and reinstalling a sink. The pressure would be negligible so I can see me trying out your solvent weld insert idea first and if that doesn’t work I’ve got loads of silicone. Thanks for the ideas will let you know how I get on.

OK thanks

Thought that I had finished with this thread for the time being but no. Spoke to a retired plumber last night who recalled sending his apprentice to the wholesaler for various things including some 40mm caps. The lad brought back plugs just like the cork on a brandy bottle and were returned. He said that if these were still available (in 32mm of course) they could easily be adapted to act as a join by simply cutting off the cap. Are they available?
