Hi,
When it rains and the wind blows in a certain direction a damp patch appears on the wall in my conservatory which is joined to the house/kitchen.
Does anybody know what the issue could be?
Thank you

Check the gutters are clear of obstruction and free flowing. That last section of lead flashing may need to be directed into the gotter instead of behind it. If this is a recently installed conservatory call the company back to sort it.What is the cowl for?

Thanks for your reply.
We’ve just had a new roof on the conservatory, we had the leak prior to the new roof so was hoping it would solve the problem.
The cowl is no longer in use, it was for the kitchen

A bit of clutching at straws from your pics. But I would take the cowl off and blank any hole that is left behind. Also is it possible that the problem is much higher up with the roof gutters and water is running down the cavity until it gets to the lintel above the entrance to the conservatory.

Check the sealant on the bedroom window above.

The vent cowl is obsolete? Why wasn't it removed prior to flashing the roof?

It’s leaked again with the recent rainfall, today has been dry so I’ve used the hose pipe and sprayed the vent. The wet patch reappeared in the conservatory. Hopefully this has identified the problem.
What’s the best way to remove a vent?
Thanks

The sloping part should just clip into the square frame. Once you have removed the cowl the frame could be either screwed or just siliconed to the wall around a hole. So probably best be ready to fill the hole at the same time as you remove the vent cover. Unclip the cowl and decide what materials you need to fill the hole before you go any further.

Is it possible that gutter is running backwards? i.e. towards the wall? I don’t see a downpipe at that end, could the rain be flowing into the gutter then directed to the wall, and somehow passing the stopend?

Hi Steve,

The gutter seems to be fine and is running the correct way.
Cheers
