I am planning on removing my standard up-and-over garage door and replacing it with a new timber wall. I don't know where to start in terms of how to construct the wall, or any regulations/specifications that need to be met. I've googled but it gets quite technical pretty quickly. Any starters or pointers (in plain English!) would be appreciated.
It is a detached, single garage, with brick walls and a flat roof. It is being converted into a home office space, so I want the wall to be well constructed and insulated. I'd also like to add a window in the wall (if planning permits it?).
Advice welcome! What type of timber, what type of frame, any weather-proofing membranes...
