Hi

I have been left high and dry by some cowboy builders XXXXX

For various reasons(Which I will post under DIY disasters) I told them to get lost.

I am now trying to finish the job. On the walls of the extension they are breeze block on the outside and then timber framed with a cavity between. On the inside I notice they have used wool fibre insulation with polythene then plasterboard. I notice this is on all the outer walls. Is this correct? Should it be timber then insulation then polythene and then plasterboard?

Any help greatly appreciated as I am now trying to do as much myself to keep cost down.

Hi Frales

Photos would be good idea don’t you think so we can see what you are explaining.

the plastic sheet is a vapor barrier.. it needs to be taped at windows and doors, joints and ceilings, electrical boxes and so on to prevent damp from gettin into the wall..
