evening everyone, just wondering if anybody can help me need a diagram showing how the continuity of the cpc may be measured when the copper sheath acts as the cpc cheers for any help

Im afriad I can not help with a diagram, but as for a method.....

Its basically the same for testing continuity on any cable....with the DB isolated and the link placed between live and earth, use your continuity tester at opposite end of circuit between the phase and copper sheath to obtain the R1+R2 reading.

A piture is worth a thousand words, unfortunatley I couldnt find one.

Evertonian, Colport has the right idea. However there is a slightly different way of achieving this if certain information is unavailable to you.

With the cable disconnected at both ends, twist the two cores together at one end, and with a multimeter measure this resistance.

To find the resistance of one of the cores, simply halve the figure you have measured. Then you connect one of the cores to the sheath of the cable and take a reading.

Remove the figure you already have from the total you have just measured, this will be the resistance of the MICC sheath.

Hope this helps.
