I am fitting an unvented HW cylinder on my flat renovation. I want to be able to control the cylinder from my phone.

What do i use to control it ? I understand i can fit a programmable timer, but i need the remote facility as well. The flat will also be a holiday let and so for many days of the year it will be empty, so i dont want to be heating HW when no one is using it. So i need to be able to turn on the cylinder say on a friday morning and then leave it running as it would normally do, until the flat is empty again and thats when i would switch it off. The element is 3KW and i am looking at buying one of these:

Presumably electric only? Most of the posh controllers are rated for lowish current- pick the one you like for ease of operation, control etc. then put a contactor or large relay on the imm heater supply, switched by yr posh new controller.

I have 13 amp sockets and socket adaptors which can clearly handle 3 kW however think either I would want to relay the immersion or use a lower rating say 2 kW so not taking the wifi unit to the limits.

Yes electric only.

I have sent the sparky the link to the tlc controlled fuse spur. This could be good.

I did see a video on plumber parts last night about the tesla wifi immersion element. This is a link. Any thoughts or experience with it?

Sparky just messaged me and says the fuse spur will melt over time. It is on the limit for the 3kw size and 13 amp.

So cant use the wifi spur it seems.

I agree with him. 13A fuse holders often do not like prolonged 13A loads.
You would do better looking for 16A devices without a fuse.

With regard to the (misnamed) 'spur' - it has a switch on it.
Would this not defeat your objective if a tenant switched it off before leaving the property?

It is unlikely they will switch it off if in the cupboard and i put a note next to it saying please dont switch off. Ok, someone may do it occasionally, but i dont think it will be common
