Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did do a search and could not find the exact answer (or one I could understand!)

I have in an upstairs bedroom a wall switch that controls a pendant light which is close to the window.
Also in the room is a pull switch fitting which also controls the same light.

We do not use this so is it possible to convert the pull switch to a pendant light fitting which still runs off the existing wall switch?

Also, is it something an individual can do or would I need an electrician?
I am keen to expand my diy knowledge!!

thanks for any help you can give...

The pull switch most likely only has a live and earth in it (the switch cable interrupts the live connection only). A pendant light needs a live and neutral, so on that basis no, you can't convert it directly. However, as you're in an upstairs rooma nd presumably have loft access over the ceiling, there's no reason you can't add more lights to the one you already have - but I think a professional will make easier work of it than you would ... :)
