Cooker hood not extracting

Can you feel it blowing, sucking or doing nothing on the side that doesn't work? How does that compare to the working side?
Never opened one of these up before but I guess there's one motor, one shaft and a fan on each end of it. If it's noticeably not working on one side then either the fan is loose on the shaft or was fitted backwards.
This sounds plausible to me. Those that I have used only have the one fan but it would make sense what you're suggesting, with two.
 
Outlet should not have a fine mesh as it traps grease and fluff reducing efficiency of fan .
 
There’s air blowing downwards on the front corner of the left side. I’ve looked through the motor vents on that side and it’s a horizontal ‘barrel’ fan. From the right side all I can see through the motor vents is the motor itself. I’m guessing it’s a ducting issue, just dreading taking the thing off as the chimney cover has a wood surround
