Fist timer - please be patient.
If I were to install a new cooker hood that has the capacity of extraction and re-circulation, and I don't want to make any holes in the wall, therefore only requiring re-circulation, will it cause any problems? Please.

You will have to obtain and fit "optional" charcoal filters if you want to re-circulate.
As already stated, re-circulation is almost not worth bothering with.

recirculation does not create suction, so it does not prevent the fumes and steam drifting out of the kitchen and around the house. It is pretty well uselesss, as the lads said. It does absolutely nothing to reduce humidity and condensation.

I believe the only purpose of a recirculating hood is as a stylish kitchen ornament.

If it is going on an outside wall, you can hire a Core drill which makes a very neat round hole.

I would agree to the ornament analogy
I just replaced a re-circulating hood with a proper extractor and it makes a HUGE difference.

Rather then hire a core drill, I found it much cheaper to buy a core drill as I already had a 750W SDS drill to drive it. Only took 10 min to cut the hole.
Cost was about £20 (Search Ebay)
