have just moved into a new property and am concerned that the cooker supply has not been completed correctly. From the red \\\"cooker\\\" switch on the wall a flat grey 2.5mm2 (poss) lead runs behind the cupboards and into the space for the free-standing cooker and is left with bare ends. Is this correct? I understood that the cable from the red switch had to be terminated in a wall box and the cable from the cooker was connected to this. Help please as i need to get it sorted (if need be) quickly.

Indeed, the cable should (must?) be terminated in a cooker connection unit.

As to the 2.5mm cable: what is the rating of the circuit breaker for the cooker circuit?

off the top of my head and without checking again, it was 30A. Without having a very close look at the cable, it may be 2.5 or 4mm2.
