Hi there,

I am in the process of redoing our drive/path and lawn.

I have been looking at using the Core Drive product to put down for the areas of path in between the concrete, as you can see on the photos.

On their installation, you need to put down a sub base, then sand and then the gravel grid, which has a membrane attached.

Now on the right hand side of the picture it slopes to grass whihc will be fine to put a type 1 sub base down. But for the 2 others I was wary of drainage as I don't want these to become waterlogged.

Today I dug up the middle one and underneath the old weed membrane, it looked like a sub base (not soil like the other path next to the lawn).

I have attached the picture of the sub base. Does this look like a type 1 or type 3?

Also if anyone could recommend if I am doing things right that would be a massive help

Thanks in advance!

I would replace it with type 2 or 3 compacted to 100mm, as gravel is going over it, but you could probably add to and recompact what is there, as it has worked drainage wise in a narrow contained area.

Thanks Blup! I was thinking of doing something like that. Thank you for easing my mind!
