i have been quoted by a garage £350 to change a core plug on my astra, they are saying that the plugs on the astra are behind the gear box and it will have to be removed, just wanting some clarification on the location of the plugs on this car and if this is a fair price to pay, because i cant find any info on the net.

To replace any core plug accurately means that good access is essential as they have to be pressed in square on.
Therefore removing the gearbox or lifting the entire engine out is usually the way to go here, unfortunately.
The core plugs are very cheap - its the labour thats an issue.
John :)

Unfortunately labour costs are high to cover overheads. Exactly the same work as doing a clutch.
