Regulation 5(2).57 - Appliances or meters may be connected to existing lead piping using suitable fittings, provided that piping is in a safe condition e.g there is no sign of damage.
Why is Tafting a piece of copper pipe into the lead classed as an approved fitting, When soldering the pipe end is not?
I would say (assuming it is still okay, I've not had reason to do it for years)simply because of the volume and thickness of solder applied. I've not heard it called tafting, but I assume you mean creating a cup, inserting the cleaned copper and filling with solder.
