Corroded mixer tap spout

Hi..... the mixer tap spout in my kitchen is corroded at the back, it can't be seen Is there any way I could clean it up and treat it with some kind of sealant to seal it. Otherwise it's about £40 + for a new mixer tap. It seems a shame the rest of the tap is OK, any help appreciated

Then buy a bucket...or wash in the beck.Modern cleaning agents take the top off most things.Gan Canny with the scrubbin.
