Could this be a gas pipe?

Hi,

I removed my hearth and I can see a capped off pipe popping up under the floorboards. Could this be a gas pipe?

I was considering a gas fire in the fireplace but had quotes which were expensive as they were assuming there was no gas supply to that area, so would need to run around 5m of pipework to get it there.

So I am hoping it is gas pipe.

Looks like an old iron gas pipe, you wont be able to use it though

Doubt it will still be live, you could get it tested but really it should have been cut off many years ago
