Could this be caused by loft extension?

Our house is typical 1920s 3-bed terrace. We had a loft extension 3-4 years ago (including a large dormer). The builder was recommended by a friend who had also used him and we have all the necessary building regs, certificates etc. In the last 6 months I have noticed a number of our floorboards beginning to creak in all bedrooms and both sets of stairs. Might this be related to the extra load on the house? Presumably the extra weight is borne by the walls? Am I being paranoid?

You need to take the carpets up and water the boards at least once a year. :D
