Hi,

My loft has about 10cm of insulation and I'd like to increase it while keeping an area boarded for storage. As the existing joists are only 10cm deep (2"x4") I'm planning to counter-batten with 50mm x 200mm. So far, so good, the only question I have is will the additional weight be a problem for the existing joists? The area to be boarded is 3m (the span of the joists) x 2.5m.

I'd be grateful for any advice/pointers. :)

Thanks,
Adam

Shouldnt be an issue so long as its just light storage.. so no sofa's or a TV or a fridge full of beer or all 3.. :(
