Hi this is my first post.
I have just had my kitchen re-plastered, two weeks later before it has been decorated I had a burst pipe in the attic and it has left a damp stain on the new plaster on the ceiling, I know that you can get a stain block but can anyone tell me if I should paint the ceiling first to "seal the plaster" before I put the stain block on?
    thanks for any help.

Thin some oil based undercoat down with some turps or white spirit and paint it over the stain. when dry mist coat the ceiling as normal and then follow up with the final coats as normal.
