covering floor tiles

Hi, I would like to cover my kitchen floor tiles and lay vynal on top. Would it be possible to fill the tile joints with filler to level the floor, or will I need to cover the tiles with plywood?

You could apply a self leveling compound (see sticky) but you should be very careful that the existing tiles are sound, and I would say some form of pva primer would be best used...pinenot
