i we've just had new coving put up two of the pieces where joined were two different whites now i have put 4 coats of dulux emulsion on and they are still two different whites and you can see join help

Coving joints two different colour whites paint not covering

you could try painting all the coving with white oil-based undercoat, then when dry two coats of white emulsion.
