Hi advice needed from builders/surveyors
We have been in our house for about 1.5 years and this crack has always been there and hasn't gotten any bigger. However we only had a basic mortgage survey done although the surveyor did come to look at the house inside and out, it had been partially blocked by a ladder of the sellers so Im not sure if it was picked up on. Do you think if we sell this will put off potential buyers and how much would it cost roughly to repair the mortar where it is cracked? It is a house built late 1980's I believe.

thanks

It's not worth worrying about.

You could get it pointed for a pounds as it is not a big job at all. An hour of someone's time at the most. But if you get someone in, tell them that the pointing must blend in as good as possible. Then brush some dirt and milk around the bit of wall to tone it all down.

Any cracks make stupid surveyor's eyes light up, so the thing to do is don't make cracks or repair work stand out.
