My Daughter has Artexed Patterned Ceilings in her bedroom and others.
Looks like the joint tape used some 30/40yrs ago has cracked.
I suggested cutting out the tape out and lay a new tape over the joint in place of the old.
Because the ceiling is patterned approx 3mm deep.
Can this be covered over hiding the pattern by skimming etc.

Thanks

yonks ago I just used a syringe to squeeze woodwork glue into the area and stuck a tiny bit of tape over the join.
It was a small crack.
Once it was painted thickly it stayed up for at least a decade.

The tape was actually Micropore medical tape because that't what I had.

Will it be full of asbestos at 40 years old?

Maybe better over boarding it all?.

thats what i would do take the tape out and retape and skim , run the back of your fingernail over the cracks and see if it sounds different to the rest of the ceiling if it sounds hollow its the tape i wouldent skim over blown tape if it sounds solid , you may get away with suring up with screws other than that try one other other suggestions people have given you
