Hi

In the process of buying this property and surveyor picked this up. Unsure atm if it’s cracked further down, as surveyor was unable to access loft hatch below (currently trying to sort).

Would you pull out on this? Wondering if were best cutting our losses as I am panicking if this is happening now, what other issue will there be in the future? House was built in 2001.

Thank you!

Just a thought: the cracking looks more in the horizontal direction rather than in the vertical. Could it be that the wall in the lower section is built of lightweight block, which is known for shrinkage cracking? If so, it might have pulled some of the joints apart in the brickwork above?
If that was the case, probably not a serious issue.

Does the survey say what might be the cause e.g. settlement or missing wall ties?

Nope - it just stated this:
It was noted that the wall to the side of the property above the garage/utility room roof has some step cracking to the pointing, and then a crack through one brick. There is a loft hatch inside the garage which could be used to access the area of wall below this section, however there was a car below the hatch at the time of the inspection so I could not access this area to investigate further. It is recommended that further investigation takes place to the loft area above the utility room to ascertain how far the cracking has spread (possibly vertically down further). There will be repairs required through options such as Helibar installations into the brickwork to support the areas.

It’s annoying as we can’t fully see how bad it is!
