Recently painted over some uncoverered plaster about year old. I painted size over the plaster, some advice from a friend and assumed it was ok to paint over now. But after a couple of coats of emulsion its cracking and some is comming off. Its on top of rough plaster that has been done to look like artexing! They replaced a lintel. Can i coat in size now? and paint ontop? Any advice welcomeThanks

You size prior to wallpapering. Raw plaster or artex or filler or anything like that you just need to use a thinned down coat of emulsion over everything as the surface will be porus. Then apply however many top coats you like.
