Cracking paint?

just painted the bedroom and there is a problem with the party wall between the bedroom and bathroom (which has the water tank in). Just been to check on my handy work and the paint on the wall in dry but cracked?

The original paint which was on the wall wasn't cracked so not sure why it had done this?

HELP!
 
what sort of paint (old and new)?

was there wallpaper paste or PVA on the wall?
