I recently had new radiators fitted with the pipes chased into the walls. The walls are painted plaster & looked fine until I put the heating on when cracks appeared either side of where the pipes are. I've tried repairing the cracks several times with filler/ paint, but each time the heating goes on they reappear.
Any ideas? Would wall repair tape be the answer? I have gone to great lengths to strip & restore the walls so wallpaper is not an option!

Were the pipes buried behind a plastic cover strip first?

TYhat may have not helped then..as they are expanding and contracting they could be putting pressure on the plaster an causing it to crack.

A plastic cover strip may have solved the problem for you.

The onlt other thing i can suggest is lining the wall with linen backed paper.

And then cross lining with ordinary lining paper because linen backed does then to leave a slightly bumpy finish
