some of my stairs creak when walked on.
i know this is gerally because they are loose and move under pressure.
i cannot easily get to the back of the stairs due to an under stair cupboard.

can i stop the movement by using Gripfill on the join between riser and tread ?

Thanks

Only way to resolve this is to get to the back of the stairs, if you have an under stair cupboard then the fact that you have to remove plasterboard shouldnt be too much of a problem.
I would get under and drive 5x 50mm chipboard screws into the rear of the step via the bottom of the riser and on the stairs themself drill 5x 50mm screws at regular intervals across the nose of the tread, obvioulsly measure the distance in and add 5mm so the screw drives through the centre of the riser.
Before you screw i would recommend some pinkgrip glue in between any open joints then screw.
I spent a full day doing mine and theres not a single squeak, creak or groan to be heard, all in it cost me £8 for materials.
Justy got to get the rear of the stairs plasterboarded now.
Good luck
