I'm building an extension to my house and need to create a wider opening in a supporting wall.

The plan is to remove a 1.5m window which has an existing steel lintel in place. It is a one piece insulated lintel bridging the window, it supports the outside and inside wall. The new opening is 1.9m. The plans show two 2.2m box 100mm lintels, one supporting the outside wall and one supporting the inside wall.

The rafters supporting the first floor do not tie into the inside wall because they run parallel and are supported by two other walls.

My question... What is the best way to go about creating this wider opening?
