The main oven spiral element around the fan on this cooker, had a section blown off with a fault. I replaced this with a new element and replace the lamp. The plates on the hob and the smaller top oven, were and still are working OK, but there is no indication light for the control knob, and the oven lamp doesn't work.

I have no instruction book for this model and don't know the controls, does the time clock have to be set before the main oven will operate?, the owner says that it doesn't!; also I can't associate the element fault with the fact that oven lamp doesn't operate, since it is operated by the oven door switch.

Is there any fuse protection on this oven?, or is it possible that the rotary controlling thermostat is defective due to the heating element blowing? I don't want to strip the front facia to access the control knob if avoidable, as it appears to be an awkward job.

Any pointers welcome.

Regards

The time clock needs to be set on all ovens with an auto facility for the element to work otherwise it has no reference point for when to switch on & off.
