Cross battening loft

Hi all, sure this has been asked and answered, but had a search and can't find an answer.

Thinking of cross battening the loft with 2x6 to then board over so I can increase the insulation from the paltry 25mm that's there at the moment

It's already boarded with 4x8ft ply sheets, so want to reuse them.

What centers should the cross battens be at? 600?
