Could i just pick the brains of any experts out there?
I live in a house built in 1887. In the loft where one of our chimney stacks is exposed i can see that the brickwork is spalled and some of the bricks are soft and crumbley. I am concerned as we do not want the chimney to collapse on us!!
What can be done to support or fix this problem? Is it worth removing the stack visable above the roof as it isnt used? would this be costly?
Or is it a problem at all?
It appears to still be straight and not leaning?
