Hi all,

looking for a bit of advice (as im sure many will be now the cold weather is here :) )

i have a ravenheat csi 85 gas combi boiler.

every few days the boiler stops working with a constant red light on and the fan whirring away. this happens regardless of of the boiler being used for CH or DHW

Consulting the manual reveals the a constant red light signifies flame failure.

Now having read through a fair bit of this forum i ahve done a few checks recomended in other posts.

I have looked into the condensor drain/trap on the bottom to see if it is blocked, the rear side has water in it that flows into the empty side then out through the drain pipe. Is this how it should be?

also i have read that the thermistors are common weak points (part number 0007TER05005/0) could this be the cause of my problems.

Thanks for reading

erm to be honest i think it may just need a service

I've always been curious what is entailed in a boiler service.

I figured the boiler not operating as it is supposed too meant that one of the componants is not working as designed and would need repair/replacement.

My annual boiler service is not due untill feb, and i was hoping by tapping the knowledge on this forum i could avoid a repair bill, if you think a service will cure the problem i can scrape a some cash together and get it done sooner.

Thanks for the prompt response :D
